Hi, friends! I’m Debbie Wiener - the owner and designer of Slobproof! I don't want to spend all of my free time working to keep my home clean and comfortable - I want my home working for me!
While I am NOT a slob, I married one, and then we had two boys, a dog, and a bird, and THEY became slobs.
While I was out working, they were home making a mess. Spills on the sofa, hand prints on the walls, and marks on the moldings.
Instead of losing my sanity and screaming at my family, I decided to design a "Slobproof" home.
My design style combines the common sense of a Jewish Mother with the muscle of a professional wrestler. Think Ida Morgenstern (yes, Rhoda's mother!) meets WWE Friday Night Smackdown.
It's with this philosophy in mind that I designed my line of Slobproof products and literally wrote the book on Slobproof design.
Ban the neutrals: off-white flooring & seating is like having another child in the house...both require constant care and supervision. Choose colors and patterns that provide camouflage instead.
Invest in good ceiling & wall lighting that can't be knocked over. Good lighting makes modest rooms look impressive. Without it, even impressive rooms look modest.
Upgrade seat and back cushions when choosing new sofas and chairs. The cost is more than worth it and will extend both the life and the comfort of your upholstery investment. Standard foam seats will flatten out quickly with heavy use from bouncing kids and pets.
Protect wood tables and toss the coasters. Find a local glass company to make glass tops for your coffee and side tables so that the finish lasts forever.
Window coverings that go up and down fare far better than full length curtains that open and close from the sides. When threatened with messy hands, you can always pull shades and blinds up and out of harm’s way.
